Museum of Spatial Arts Köpenick Palace
The Köpenick palace is a dependance of the museum of arts belonging to the national museums of Berlin with its headquarters at the “Kulturforum” (cultural forum) at the “Potsdamer Platz”.
It is the palace-ensemble’s architectural center which was built between 1677 and 1690 as residence of Brandenburg’s prince Friedrich. The history of Köpenick’s palace-island and its single buildings is documented in two exhibition rooms in the palace’s cellar which was comprehensively redeveloped in 2004 and is now used as museum of spatial arts.
But not only furniture and whole room-planking but also other arts from the renaissance, baroque and rococo are presented in an accentuated modern way. The services from the “Königliche Porzellanmanufaktur Berlin” (royal china factory) and the large silver buffet from the knight’s hall of the Berlin palace leave a mark.
